About Camden's Comfort Project:

Camden’s Comfort Project (CCP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity located in Naperville, IL. Our organization supports the needs of babies born prematurely by donating fleece baby blankets to neonatal intensive care units. Founded by Alex and Lauren Humes, CCP was started as a way to honor their son, Camden, and inspire hope, courage, and strength to families navigating their way through life and loss in neonatal intensive care.

About Camden

Our lives were forever changed on November 1, 2014 when we became parents to our sweet boy, Camden Knox. Camden was born prematurely at 30 weeks and 2 days via emergency c-section into neonatal intensive care. Our precious boy was a blessing, a perfect blend of his mommy and daddy, and our pride and joy. Although Camden was a little fighter and perfect in every way, the rare and abrupt condition we experienced challenged his life. For 25 precious hours, Camden was showered with love and kisses. He was baptized, had his newborn photos taken, and stole the hearts of the NICU nurses and all of his family and friends…but our little angel couldn’t stay. Snuggled in mommy’s arms in a cozy polka-dot blanket, we said goodbye to our son and Camden passed peacefully into Heaven. Camden was only here for a short time, but he has taught us so much about life and love. He will be forever loved and in our hearts.

Some of our family members were on their way back from vacation when they received the news of Camden’s birth. We were fortunate that Camden’s grandma was able to re-route and fly up to Chicago to meet her grandson. Not knowing what was to come, she decided to bring our Christmas gifts with her (a sweater for both of us and a baby blanket for Camden)…In preparation for our son’s goodbye, we realized how special the clothes and blanket were in our situation. We needed clean clothes and we received them. We needed a baby blanket and we received one. These gifts were exactly what we needed to help comfort us at this bittersweet time.

Knowing how important Camden’s blanket was for us in the hospital and now today as a treasured memory, we wanted to ensure that others are offered a similar gift. The idea for Camden’s Comfort Project was born. CCP creates cozy gender-neutral baby blankets for donation to babies in the NICU and their families. We also provide instructions on how you can create your own baby blanket for donation. Each blanket donated makes a BIG difference in the lives of the LITTLE and their families. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

With love, prayers, and strength,
